Analysis of the Opening Sequence to: Heroes, “don’t look back”
Episode 2: Don't Look Back starts with a shot of the Heroes' logo (the globe in a shot of a solar eclipse), many shows do not have there own logo; they might have an opening title but not a logo. The opening sequence gives an insight into what might happen. The world covered in an eclipse is an obvious hint that the programme is going to have dark times ahead. A narrator’s voiceover saying the words previously on Heroes followed by a shot’s of 5 different people, introduces them and tells the audience what previously happened on Heroes. An enigma is created through the narrator introducing the characters but not really naming or stating there powers, that creates mystery and as it is still only the second episode this adds to the effect of increasing the tension and results in making the audience much more eager to know the rest of the story. The voice doing the voice over is then found out to be one of the characters in the show - in this episode, it is Mohinder and he is a scientist with no powers.The scene where peter is on the roof about to fall off uses a wide range of camera angles and views , when he jumps off the roof the camera uses a panning motion to follow him, the camera then merges with peter and you see what he sees when he is flying. This image then quickly cuts into an image of Peter laying in a hospital bed this, along with the stop in voice over, emphasises the idea that Peter's destiny is out of his control. This scene, mainly coloured blue and white this creates an effect of flash backs However

CROSS MEDIA EVALUATION
Simpsons
1)the media text i have chosen to evaluate is simpsons becuase it has been a succsessfull tv series and that made them make a much awaited film (the simpsons movie)
2)
The opening scene is shown only for 25 seconds to 45 seconds.
firstly the long shotshowing the front of the house shows the satire of the urban household.
the simpsons are the typical nuclear familly, homer is shown coming back from work so he is the traditional breadwinner whereas marge is shown coming back from shopping with the baby at the supermarket. The kids are shown coming back from school. They all meet in a confusing manner in the living room which shows that the familly is a well functioning, and it also portrays the typical nuclear familly. this text is basically showing the day to day stuggles in the american working society. The way the simpson familly arrived: homer, marge, bart, then lisa. This shows the american fammily hierachy, and how the fammily arrives in order of importance.

the trailer is odbiously an animated trailer of the simpsons and the trailer has many camera angles eg. the first look at homer is a extreem close up and the the next time we see homer it is a extreem long shot and the type of camera angle affects the type of mood the protagonist is in. the film producers spent alot of time trying to develop a movie quality film, because the simpsons is just a series shown on the tv, so they made the trailer look very movie like, they added a narrater to also give a very film like affect. the trailer shows every character in an order of most appearing, so that is why you see homer first then the rest of the characters.

the poster shows something within springfield burning which conotates negative things eg. destruction deah ect. The poster shows the main familly(the simpsons) and they are striking a pose which is similar to that of a pose of a god for example, this shows the role they play in the whole movie. the text is bright and very attractive to the eye and therefore is a very good marketing stratagy.
6)the primary audience for the series is probably a middle to working class becuase they can relate more to the simpson familly, the primary audience for the film would be the simpson series viewers, the secondary audience is very open to everybody since thereis something for everybody.

SELF EVALUATION
attainment-3
i think my attainment is just ok, becuase at gcse i got a B however i think i could of tryed alot harder to get a better grade, and i will try to achieve this in my as level.
effort-2
i think my effort is good, becuase i try relativley hard and i hope that it shows in class
punctuallity-1
my punctuallity is excellent, i attend every class
submission and quality of h/w-3
the quality of my homework is ok but i personally dont think it is any more than ok
abillity to work independently-2
i can most deffinatley work by my self, and do very well
quallity of writting-2
i belive that my quallity of writting is quite gd but still needs improvement
quallity of media folder-2
the qualitty of my folder is not evidential becuase i do not have one, but my books are upto date and complete with handouts from the media teachers.

1st) A Rapper's Ambition: becuase they didnt just except what they had to use, no, they researched even more to find new software to be able to use speacial effects. the use of different angle's and shot's and the music background they used made this the best production
2nd) saving faith: becuase the production was very life like and gleemed with originallity
3rd) face of fear: becuase the production was very well set out, i thought it engadged the audience and really made the audience feel like it was showing at the cinema, due to the affects and just the amount of time that was put into it it really should have won best horror.
